Conley Group Joins in Waterproofing and Restoring St. Patrick’s Catholic Church
314 N Rusk Ave, Denison, Texas
To be part of something historic is always a great privilege. Conley Group joined in on a long and storied history on August 14, 2014 as parishioners and community leaders gathered to bless the workers hands that are restoring St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Denison, Texas. St. Patrick’s Church, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, is on a journey back to its architectural glory days when it was first built in 1847 and, following a fire, rebuilt again in 1911.
Conley Group is providing building envelope consulting services for the $1.2 million exterior portion of the renovation. Project manager Gary Williams was instrumental in leading the survey and assessment that investigated the various water intrusions St. Patrick’s Church was experiencing. Conley Group submitted design and construction documents to the Texas Historical Commission for review, which were approved in March 2013. Today, St. Patrick’s entire north facade is covered in scaffolding and undergoing its anticipated six month restoration.
“One hundred years later, we’re spending $1.4 million to restore the church to a place of worship so that it will last another 100 years,” said Frank Ventura, chairman of the parish’s restoration campaign.
“The century-old building today is still as beautiful as it was at its dedication on February 1, 1914. But the facade of the building is showing its age and without needed repairs, the structure could soon be compromised,” said Rev. Stephen Mocio, pastor at St. Patrick’s. “It’s our turn, once again, to be strong in our faith and ensure that our beautiful church will remain a home to Catholics for the next century.”
Conley Group is grateful for the opportunity to help restore this historic structure and to serve the needs of the St. Patrick Catholic Church congregation and Denison, Texas community.
